There are not many places you can go in this world without encountering surveillance equipment. From security cameras in public areas to doorbell cameras in many homes, most people want to know what is happening around them at all times. Yes, your every move is being watched! But you don’t have to be paranoid.

“This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all long-suffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.” (1 Timothy 1:15-16)

The Lord has shown you mercy and is patiently working in you through all kinds of daily trials to develop a godly character. You might not understand why you are facing persecution or difficulties with co-workers, neighbors, even your own family members because of the faith which you proclaim. But it could be because those who are bothering you are testing you and watching how you react in pressing situations.

When you respond to trials with grace and compassion like Jesus did, you become a living testimony of the Gospel to those around you who do not believe. Your life becomes a pattern for those who are going to believe on Yeshua to follow to everlasting life. They will use your life as a template on their journey to faith for how to relate to God and others as they grow spiritually.

William J. Thoms once said, “Be careful how you live. You may be the only Bible some person ever reads.” And St. Francis of Assisi said, “Always preach the gospel, and if necessary, use words.” But even better than these noteworthy quotes, Jesus said,

“Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.” (Matthew 5:15-16)

Think of yourself as a mirror that reflects the love of the Lord toward those around you. Consider your attitudes and how you react in different situations that are a reflection on your faith. do you demonstrate patience, joy, encouragement to those who irritate you? Or do you lose your cool and use unwholesome words when someone ticks you off?  Live out loud! Shine your light. Walk out your faith! Yes, people are watching you, but may they be drawn to the Lord by what they see in you.
