In the Negev desert of southern Israel there stands a high, solar powered tower like a lighthouse in a sea of sand that is illuminated all day by the sunlight being reflected on it from thousands of mirrors on the ground. This dazzling light can be seen for miles. Many people have referred to it as the “Eye of Sauron” from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. The mirrors below it are oriented to continually angle the sunlight from the earliest beams of the dawn to the diminishing rays of dusk. And this Ashalim Power Station can produce enough renewable green electricity to power tens of thousands of homes.

When Moses received the Commandments of God, written on tablets of stone by the finger of God Himself, he brought them down the mountain and his face shone with the glory of the LORD. But Moses put a veil over his face, not to keep the people from staring at his radiating face, but to prevent the people from seeing the glory fading away (see 2 Cor. 3:13). We have also been given an even more glorious message from God that He wants us to deliver with unveiled faces so those around us can see His glory.

“Clearly you are an epistle of Christ…written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart. And we have such trust through Christ toward God…who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant…Therefore since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech…But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 3 (excerpts)

We are called to be Son-powered lighthouses, like mirrors that reflect the glory and love of Yeshua to the world. And in the process, we too are transformed to be like Him. Don’t cover up your mirror with a veil like Moses did. Don’t let your mirror get clouded or smudged with sin. Shine for Yeshua today! Spread His light around to this dark world! Boldly speak about the hope that is in you! Your life, reflecting Christ, may be the only Gospel some people will read. Some people may cover their eyes and shield their face from His light reflecting off you, but others will look toward that light and be drawn to see more. Don’t be surprised when they ask you why you are different, why you glow, why you can love, and how they can learn to do the same. God loves you and has called you to be an instrument He can use to reach the lost, for He loves them too, even in their pitiful, wretched state, and wants them to know the liberty and salvation He offers. Realign your heart and spirit with God’s so He can reflect His love brighter through you today.
