Genesis 6:5, 8-9 says, “Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually…but Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD…Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.”

How did Noah manage to live a godly life in the midst of a world that was completely corrupt? What made him different? How did he resist being corrupted by all the evil influences that were all around him? I found the singular cause of Noah’s integrity in Genesis 6:22.

Thus Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did.”

Joshua, too, was successful in all his pursuits against the corrupt peoples who dwelt in the Promised Land because of this same singular cause found in Joshua 11:15.

As the LORD had commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did. He left nothing undone of all that the LORD had commanded Moses.”

Matthew 24:37 says, “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be…” Our world is becoming increasingly corrupt. People are raging with no sense of conscience. How can we live godly lives in the midst of this godless generation? The same singular factor will work for us as well. It is a simple, conscious choice that will determine our complete success or utter failure. We must simply listen to what the Lord commands us and then do it.  We can not compromise our standards of obedience and commitment to the Lord and His Word.

What is the Lord saying to you today? What task has He given you to do? Your obedience to the Lord not only pleases Him but is also a testimony of righteousness in a dark and corrupt generation we live in. Keep up your good work today and every day!
