Have you ever heard someone say about a gift, “This is too much! I can’t accept this!”? I think people often say this not because they don’t want the gift but rather because they know they can’t return such a nice favor to the giver.

God created us for fellowship with Him. He has revealed His majesty to us through this world He created and through His Word given to us by His Holy Spirit. And when we made a mess of all He made perfect, He provided a way for us to be saved through His Son. The Lord gives us good things, many benefits that we don’t even deserve, simply because He loves us so much and wants us to be close to Him. And all of His goodness toward us is given as a gift.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul; and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things…” (Psalm 103:2-5)

There is no way we can thank Him adequately or repay to Him a gift that He would appreciate from our puny existence…or is there? Psalm 116:12-14 says,

“What shall I render to the LORD for all His benefits toward me? I will take up the cup of salvation and call upon the name of the LORD. I will pay my vows to the LORD now in the presence of all His people.”

Did you know that by simply accepting His gift of salvation and calling on Him to help you is a way of blessing Him and rendering a gift to Him in return?! Living for God is our greatest gift that He takes delight in. Honoring Him is the best way you can repay Him for all His benefits. There are so many who reject His gift and that hurts His heart.

But here’s the catch—you should live for Him and love Him openly, unashamed to call yourself a child of God in the presence of all His people. He doesn’t want secret believers who praise Him in their closets. He wants radical fellowshippers who are living on display for all the world to see. For when the Lord is glorified in you, He can draw others to also receive His gift of salvation, and that makes His heart happy!

The psalmist declared,

“I love the LORD because He has heard my voice and my supplications. Because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.” Psalm 116:1-2

Keep living for the Lord out loud every day! You are not only blessing Him with your life but you are also drawing others to know the Greatest Gift Giver of all! May you be filled with all the goodness and benefits of our Heavenly Father today. Thank God for His indescribable gift!!!
