Do you have a best friend whom you like to hang out with and share all your plans and ideas with and open your heart to share with them the struggles you are facing? My husband, Jack, is my absolute best friend here on earth. We enjoy exploring the hills and trails of Israel together, but he also is the one I go to when I have a problem or just need a hug. We are inseparable!

Do you know that God also has some best friends whom He has related to on a first name basis and talked to face to face? Adam was His first friend. They walked and talked in the Garden of Eden until Adam sinned. Enoch was another. Genesis 5:24 says, “And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.” And what about Abraham? God spoke to him in person and shared with him His plans and ideas. James 2:23 says, “And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, ‘Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.’ And he was called the friend of God.”
And who can forget Moses who spoke to God face to face? Exodus 33:11, 17 says, “So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend…So the LORD said to Moses, “…you have found grace in my sight, and I know you by name.”

Now you might be thinking to yourself, “Who can measure up to the faith of these gigantic friends of God? I feel just like a peon in God’s family.” But there is one more time when God calls a human His friend. In John 15:14-15, Jesus Himself said, “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants… but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.”

Yes, this includes you! You too are one of God’s best friends if you live for Him and obey Him in whatever He asks of you. And He WILL speak to you and share His plans and ideas with you. And He DOES crave to spend time with you. And He WANTS you to open your heart to Him and share with Him what you are struggling with. He has promised to be your inseparable friend! The Lord loves you with an everlasting love and is calling to you right now to run into His open arms and feel His close embrace.
May you feel the grace of God’s eyes looking down on you with compassion and may you hear His voice when He calls you by name today. He is your BEST FRIEND!
