I hope you read my article on the Tapestry of God’s Word. In it we saw a magnificent thread woven through the Scriptures of God’s voice going forth to declare His messages of hope and salvation. The Lord spoke these words directly to His Chosen People—the Israelites—but the promises He made are available to all who will call on the name of the Lord.

“For the promise is to you and to your children and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” (Acts 2:39)

The Lord is continually looking for people who will live for Him and serve Him faithfully. Are you one of His special servants? You can be!

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him…” (2 Chronicles 16:9)

The Lord is on your side if your heart is loyal to Him, if you walk in His ways and keep His commandments. The Lord has spoken His Words to you and has invited you to join Him in His holy mountain.

“For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived?…Then the LORD said… “Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!…Therefore you shall be careful to do as the LORD your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left…that you may live and that it may be well with you and that you may prolong your days in the land…” (Deuteronomy 5:26, 29, 32-33)

Oh, that we all may have this heart in us that fears the Lord and follows His Word!! Oh, that we all may live well and enjoy the blessings of the Lord!! And how can you find this heart that pleases God?

“Give unto the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness…The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.” (Psalm 29:2,11)

Don’t give up. Keep pressing forward toward the Lord in your daily work and walk. May you be blessed with peace today.

Being a human is not easy. My husband and I have been trying to lose weight. It is a real struggle. We will do well, eating properly for a few days, but then some frustration or temptation overcomes us and we indulge in some delicacy that we later regret. We often feel like food is a foe that has a powerful grip on us. Oddly, the same thing happens in our spiritual being too. We try to pray and read our Bible and live for the Lord, but then, in a time of frustration or temptation, we succumb to the power of sin’s influence and fall on our faces. In our own strength it seems impossible to live a life that pleases God all the time. But thank God we have a Savior who understands our weaknesses both physically and spiritually and can identify with us through these struggles. He doesn’t leave us to figure things out on our own; there is no way we could overcome the power of sin without His help.

“So now Jesus and the ones He makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them His brothers and sisters…Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—the Son also became flesh and blood. For only as a human being could He die, and only by dying could He break the power of the devil, who had the power of death. Only in this way could He set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.” (Hebrews 2:11,14-15 NLT)

Precious child, you are a loved and dear member of God’s family. He is not ashamed to call you His brother or sister. He sees what you are going through and understands when you fall and feel like giving up. But you can’t give up! Just as He said to Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9,

“‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

The Lord knows you are weak, but He uses those weaknesses to supplement us with His power. When we are weak, His power fills in the gaps. When we are strong-willed, there is not much room for His power to work in us. We are actually operating to our fullest potential when our minimum is offset by His maximum. Because He came to us as a human, yet did not fail once to sin’s powerful pull, He was able to break the power of the devil over us. He sets us free from the condemnation of fear and failure.

Don’t put yourself down when you feel frustrated or tempted by food or by sin, but instead “take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when you are weak, then you are strong (because He becomes strong within you). (2 Corinthians 12:10) Walk in the strength of the Lord today!

I want to share with you a verse that you all have heard and have quoted many times. But sometimes it is good to take a fresh look at it and its impact considering the message of the verses around it. It is in Isaiah 40:27-31:

“Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: ‘My way is hidden from the LORD, and my just claim is passed over by my God’? Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

Verse 31 is given in answer to the statement made in verse 27, “My way is hidden from the LORD, and my just claim is passed over by my God.” Have you been believing the Lord for something that has not yet come to pass? Have you felt like your prayers have gone unheard or unanswered? There is no way that your way is hidden from the Lord, and there is no way that you have been passed over by God! Men might let something fall through the cracks and give up on a dream. People might disappoint you or let you down. But God doesn’t ever get tired of you calling out to Him. He is not putting you off or secretly hoping you will go away.

Don’t give up! Don’t stop asking for what you are believing for from God. Keep waiting patiently and know that He is indeed working behind the scenes where you can’t see any results yet. If you will be patient, He will come through at the perfect time, and the triumph you receive will send your spirit soaring to heights you never imagined possible. God knows where you are! He sees what you are struggling through. He understands your weakness and weariness. Every detail of your life matters to Him. Keep trusting Him; He will not let you down. Keep running your race to Him. Keep walking in His ways. And He will come and fill you with strength and rest as you continue to press forward in His will.
